Dear SITE Mountain West Friends and Supporters,

2020 and the start of 2021 have been an incredibly challenging time both personally and professionally.

We entered 2020 with all the hope a new year brings and I joined many of our board and SITE members worldwide for SITE’s Global Conference in January 2020 in Vancouver, BC. In mid-January 2020 we held our first very successful dual live chapter launch events in Denver and Scottsdale which foretold great promise for the future of our Chapter. No one could have predicted what was to come.

With COVID-19, our world was turned upside down, and for the incentive industry, this meant learning how to adapt. Virtual events became the norm. Our events team and Board “pivoted” to virtual events to continue to engage and connect our community with education and interactive networking.

For 2021, we continue our work to provide relative and engaging events. While the current state of in-person events is in flux, the extended challenges of the pandemic have made one thing clear: we want to gather again as soon as we feel safe to do so. Our plan is to offer hybrid and in person events later this year with a focus on health and safety. We do have good reason to be optimistic about the coming months and chose to embrace the evolution of how we gather in the future.

Please get involved! I encourage you to volunteer your time to our Chapter by joining one of the various committees (Membership, Marketing/Communications, Events/Sponsorship, and Young Leaders). Our chapter serves incentive industry professionals from a four-state region (Arizona, Colorado, Utah, and Nevada), though many also live/work outside of these states.

Being an engaged and active member is invaluable to your career and for building important relationships. I can attest to this. After many years of being an active member, I am still inspired to volunteer my time to work collaboratively with our Board on initiatives that help our chapter and members. If you would like to get involved, please reach out to me directly.

None of our successes would be possible without our extremely dedicated Board Members! Special recognition and deep appreciation goes to our founding Past President, Doug Chorpenning, for his tireless efforts in getting our chapter up and running especially during a very difficult year.

Finally, I want to thank all our members, sponsors and volunteers for their support over this past year. We are optimistic for the year ahead and look forward to a time when we can safely gather again in-person.

We look forward to this unfolding year…together.

Warmest wishes,

Lisa Kincannon Cherry
